Born in 1967 in Koszalin, Poland.
Piotr finished documentary filmmaking at Wajda School in Warsaw.

He also studied cinematography at the Faculty of Radio and Television of Silesian University and photography at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art in the United Kingdom.


Piotr is cooperating with the global media outlets. He's been working for The New York Times, Financial Times, Stern, Der Spiegel, Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, Politiken, De Volkskrant, Newsweek and many others.
His photography has been widely recognized at numerous photo contests (POYi, Grand Press Photo and others) and was aquired to the collection of the Widener Library of Harvard University.

Piotr is also a contract photographer and videographer for Bloomberg News, worldwide agency specializing in business oriented content.


Piotr's documentary films have been honoured with numerous awards and nominations, are screened at the television, presented on VOD, in-flight entertainment and have been included in the programs of international film festivals such as Doc Leipzig, Krakow Film Festival, Camerimage.

In 2010-2012, Piotr Malecki lectured in press photography at the Institute of
Journalism of Warsaw University.
He is a scholarship grantee of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
