Born in 1967 in Koszalin, Poland.
Piotr graduated in documentary film at the Wajda School, also studied cinematography at the Faculty of Radio and Television of Silesian University and photography at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art in the United Kingdom.

Piotr is cooperating with the global media outlets. He's been working for The New York Times, Financial Times, Stern, Der Spiegel, Wall Street Journal, The Guardian, National Geographic Poland, Politiken, De Volkskrant, Polityka, Newsweek and many others.

His photography has been recognized at numerous photo contests (POYi, Grand Press Photo, Fuji).
One of his picture stories has become part of a collection of the Widener Library of Harvard University.

Piotr's documentary films have been honoured with numerous awards and nominations, are screened at the television, presented on VOD, in-flight entertainment and have been included in the programs of prestigious film festivals such as Doc Leipzig, Krakow Film Festival, Camerimage.

In 2010-2012, Piotr Malecki lectured in press photography at the Institute of
Journalism of Warsaw University.
Two times he was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
Since 2018 Piotr is a Canon Ambassador.
